Why a refund address matters more than people think
A refund address gives the route a return destination if a swap cannot complete. Adding one can help a refund proceed, but it does not guarantee a refund or remove the need for support.
What it is for
A refund address is where your coins go back to if the swap cannot be completed. It is passed to the route along with your order at the moment the trade is created.
Swaps fail for ordinary reasons. A route can run out of liquidity for the pair, an amount can land outside the accepted range, or a deposit can arrive after the window has closed.
A saved refund address can let the route process an eligible return without asking you for a destination later. Eligibility, timing, fees and any verification requirements still depend on the route.
What happens without one
Without a saved refund address, the route may need a return destination to be confirmed through support before it can process a refund.
Contact official support with your trade ID if an order fails or needs a return address. Recovery and refunds are not guaranteed, even when an address was provided.
Getting it right
Use an address on the same network as the coin you are sending. If you are sending Bitcoin, the refund address is a Bitcoin address.
Use an address in a wallet you control. Not an exchange deposit address, which may reject an unexpected incoming transfer.
If the refund destination requires a memo or tag, it must be supported and supplied correctly. If the order has no field for a required refund memo, contact support before depositing.

- Can I add a refund address after I have already sent?
- The order sends the refund details when it is created. To add or correct a return destination afterwards, contact official support. Whether a change is possible depends on the route and the order's current state.
- Who pays the network fee on a refund?
- A refund may have network costs or other deductions under the route's conditions. Do not assume the returned amount will equal the original deposit; ask support to clarify the expected amount when arranging a refund.
